今回は中央大学の統一日程の正誤問題を見ていくことにしよう。大問2よりは見る範囲が多くなり、難しいと感じるかもしれないが、基本的な英文法・語法に関する問題が多かったので、3/5は必ず取りたい。さらに、早慶の正誤問題を出題する大学受験をする受験生にとっては、いい練習になったのではないだろうか。
大問3 次の1～5の英文の①～④には、文法・語法・内容上の誤りを含むものが、それぞれ1つあります。その記号をマークしなさい。(15点)
(1) ① Television and movies are great for tourism. ② Fans love to go all the way to places where they have only ever seen in two dimensions. ③ Then they take two-dimensional photographs of these places, ④ and show other people to prove that these places look just like they did on the television.

[解法のポイント]
(1) 選択肢②は関係副詞が用いられているが、後ろがseeの目的語がないことから不完全文であることから、関係代名詞のwhichまたはthatに訂正をする必要がある。他の選択肢に着目すると、①はbe動詞の後ろは形容詞であるからgreatは正しい、③は「写真を撮る」はtake a picture(photograph)という表現があるので正しい、④の英文に着目すると、just like[接続詞]「同様に」は後ろにSV構造を結べる。さらに、show＋人＋to V「人にVすることを示す」という熟語も正しいことから、④は正しい英文である。
(2) 選択肢④のprovidedはandの前が現在形であることや文意から「安定感」を表す現在形がよいことから、 provideに訂正する必要がある。他の選択肢に着目すると、①はone of the 複数名詞の形になっており正しい、②の英文に着目すると、等位接続詞andがあるので、文構造上同じものを結ぶ必要があり、andの後ろがSVC構造であることから、services frequent → services are frequentにするべきと考えるが、be動詞はand以下にも書かれていることから、省略可能であるため、訂正する必要はない。また、④ link between A「A(二者)との関係」も前置詞との相性もよく正しい。

(3) 選択肢①の英文に着目すると、grow upが受動態で用いられているが、grow upは自動詞であることから、受動態用法はないためbrought upにするべきである。他の選択肢に着目すると、③のexcited(分詞形容詞)はIとの関係で見て考えると、能動関係が成立するため正しい。また、④は分詞構文が用いられており、「私が18歳になったときに」という能動関係であることから、beingも正しいことが分かる。
(4) 選択肢の①にはalongsideとbyはどちらも前置詞で、二重前置詞となるのでalongsideを削除して訂正するべき。他の選択肢に着目すると、選択肢①の英文に着目すると、interactは自動詞であり「相互作用する」という意味であり、文構造は以下のようになり正しい。選択肢③ including immigration, food shortage and femaleは能動関係で正しい。選択肢④ be based on A「Aに基づく」も前置詞の使い方も正しい。

(5) 選択肢③の英文に着目すると、be able to V「Vすることができる」という表現だが、be動詞を入れる必要がある。さらに、not allをnot onlyに訂正をするので、not only A( but) also B「AだけでなくBも」に訂正する必要がある。他の選択肢に着目すると、選択肢①のmindは可算名詞では「考え」という意味で用いられており正しい。選択肢②のandはwork aloneとpay attention to detail とkeep focusedを結んでいる。
